New Posthumous Music From Selena May Be Released(new info)

I know we already know about a new Selena Album coming. But I found a few new things in this new article. So I decided to share it. – Admin Jessica

Selena — the Latin pop star who was murdered in 1995 by her fan club president Yolanda Saldívar at the tender age of 23, and the subject of the biopic that launched Jennifer Lopez‘s career into the stratosphere — lives on with her musical legacy of previously released albums. However, posthumous music may be released, and not by someone who knew the singer on the fringe or through her career associations.

The San Antonio Current reports that Selena’s own father has revealed that he is in possession of the masters for his late daughter’s pre-EMI career and plans to release the music. Ultimately, it will feel like the singer is singing from the grave.

“I own five pre-EMI masters of Selena,” Abraham Quintanilla said. “As we’re speaking, we selected 10 songs and we’re taking the vocals out of the original recordings and A.B. [Quintanilla III, Selena’s brother and former band member] is doing new music, bringing it up to date. We already finished one, and it sounds as if Selena had recorded it this morning.” That has to be an eerie feeling for her father.

The vocal tracks were recorded from ages 14 through 16. Selena’s father says that this new, yet old Selena album should be out in some time in 2012.
